PreciGenome’s NanoGenerator formulates LNPs on separate benchtop systems that need samples loaded and collected by hand, at 1 to 4 formulations per run on Flex-S and up to 48 on the 50 kg Flex-S Plus. The LNP Screening Array runs on the liquid handler already in your lab and generates 100+ formulations per hour, so a 96-formulation screen finishes in under an hour with samples ready for processing on deck.
PreciGenome’s NanoGenerator and the LNP Screening Array both formulate LNPs by microfluidic mixing. What separates them is whether formulation runs as a step in your automated method or on a separate instrument that someone loads, runs, and unloads by hand.
Flex-S, PreciGenome’s compact model, formulates 1 to 4 formulations per run, with every input loaded and every sample collected by hand. Flex-S Plus automates mixing for up to 48 formulations per run in chips of four, but an operator still loads the input plates before each run and carries the sample plates to dilution and characterization after it.
The LNP Screening Array runs on the liquid handler your team already uses. The liquid handler dispenses inputs from source plates into eight mixers per array, collects every formulation on deck, and dilutes it in the same method, so formulation becomes a hands-free step in your automated workflow.
| Platform | LNP Screening Array | NanoGenerator Flex-S | NanoGenerator Flex-S Plus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Platform | Your existing liquid handler | 8 kg benchtop system | 50 kg benchtop system |
| Screening throughput | 100+ formulations per hour | Not published by PreciGenome | Approximately 64 formulations per hour |
| Formulations per device | 8 per LNP Screening Array | 4 per chip | 4 per chip |
| Formulation control | Your liquid handler method | Separate instrument controls | Separate instrument controls |
| Setup | Array, deck adapter, and automation protocol | Instrument purchase and bench space | Instrument purchase, bench space, and on-site installation and qualification |
A Flex-S Plus run tops out at 48 formulations, so a 96-formulation screen stops halfway while an operator changes the chips, gaskets, plates, and tips by hand. On the compact Flex-S, the same screen takes at least 24 rounds of manual loading and collection.
The LNP Screening Array spreads the same screen across eight mixers per array and runs it from your liquid handler method.
| 96-formulation screen | LNP Screening Array | NanoGenerator Flex-S | NanoGenerator Flex-S Plus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Time to formulate | Under 60 minutes | Not published by PreciGenome | 90 minutes |
| Devices used | 12 LNP Screening Arrays | At least 24 chips | 24 chips and 24 gaskets |
| Consumable change | Not needed between formulations | By hand after every 4 formulations | By hand after 48 formulations |
| How capacity expands | Add arrays across available deck positions | Add serial runs of up to 4 formulations | Add serial 48-formulation runs |
Both NanoGenerator models are separate systems with their own bench space, so every run begins and ends with samples moved by hand between the instrument and the rest of the workflow.
Each LNP Screening Array occupies a standard SLAS deck position, and the liquid handler runs input delivery, formulation, collection, and downstream processing in the method your team already uses.
| Workflow step | LNP Screening Array | NanoGenerator Flex-S | NanoGenerator Flex-S Plus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Input handling | Source plates prepared on your liquid handler | Inputs loaded by hand every run | Inputs loaded by hand every run |
| Formulation hardware | Arrays loaded as deck labware at setup | Chip placed by hand every run | Chips, gaskets, and tips placed by hand every run |
| Sample collection | Collected in on-deck output reservoirs | Samples collected by hand every run | Sample plates collected by hand every run |
| Downstream processing | Continues within the same method | Samples carried by hand to the next instrument | Sample plates carried by hand to the next instrument |
| Formulation footprint | Standard SLAS deck position | Requires 32 × 40 × 21 cm of bench space | Requires 63 × 57 × 66 cm of bench space |
Flex-S Plus formulates four formulations at a time, one chip after the next, so a 96-formulation screen stretches across 90 minutes and a manual reload, and the first and last formulations reach characterization at very different ages.
The LNP Screening Array formulates the same screen in under an hour, with every formulation collected on deck and diluted in the same method, which keeps formulation ages closer across the screen.
Run your own lipids and cargo on the liquid handler already in your lab, and set the success criteria against your current formulation method.
We provide the LNP Screening Arrays and an automation protocol configured for your liquid handler. Our applications team runs the first screen with you on site and reviews the characterization data together.
